Studio time at Gare Dalhousie for two research and creation residencies, aimed at the beginning of a process
Cirque Éloize is opening the dance studio at Gare Dalhousie to two research and creation residencies, and the company is clear about the stage it wants to support: exploring an idea, testing a proposition, digging into a research question, or moving an existing creation forward.
In Éloize's own words, these residencies offer the two things artists most often lack at the start of a process. Time, and a space to try.
Two residencies are available. Each one gives the selected artists the dance studio at Gare Dalhousie in Montreal, in a building given over to circus and the living arts.
These are the two residencies Éloize raised money for. Its La relève se révèle campaign, launched in March 2026 with a $50,000 target matched by the Fonds 1001 pour la jeunesse, set out to host emerging artists or companies for two creative residencies with equipment, rehearsal spaces and technicians to meet their needs, alongside 1,000 hours of training supervised by Éloize teams and free access to a professional rehearsal space for students and graduates.
So the studio time is not a room on its own. Cirque Éloize describes an intention rather than a schedule: explore an idea, test a proposition, deepen a research question, or let an existing creation evolve.
Residency dates and how long each one runs are not published. Ask before the deadline rather than after.
- ·Cirque Éloize describes the space as "un environnement consacré au cirque et aux arts vivants", a building given to circus and the living arts. No discipline list is published beyond that wording.
- ·No age limit, career stage, nationality or residence requirement appears in the announcement.
- ·The studio is in Montreal, so the practical question is whether you can be in the city for the period Éloize has in mind. That period is not published yet, which makes it the first thing to ask.
