Four companies get at least four or five paid bookings touring South-West England between June 2027 and May 2028.
This is the one on the October list that is actual paid work rather than an application for money. Take Art and Circus City are picking four companies for a touring menu, and every booking comes with a guaranteed fee.
You need a finished show and a full video of it. That is the filter: this is not a development call, it is a booking call.
The fee is stated up front, which is rarer than it should be. Around £1,350 to £1,500 total per performance day for UK-based companies, or EUR 2,100 per performance day for EU-based companies. That figure covers the performance, local and regional travel, subsistence, rest days and VAT where it applies.
On top of the fee: home-stay accommodation near the touring locations with some meals, a subsidy for additional travel and set transport including international costs, personal access costs for Disabled performers and crew, mentoring and technical and logistical support from the project team, a paid residential artist lab on touring in rural and urban community venues, and a bursary of £1,000 to £1,500 to adapt the show if it needs it.
Four companies are selected from this call, each offered at least four to five performances out of 26 in total. The venues are not theatres: parks, housing estates, community centres, village halls, churches, beaches and schools, across rural Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Somerset, plus urban community venues in Cinderford, Gloucester, Bristol, Stroud, Bridport and Weston-super-Mare.
Arts Council England funds the project. Cie Zalatai and Head Over Wheels are already touring as part of CAAA+ outside this call, and the 2024 edition toured Collective Contakt, Nikki & JD, Max Calaf Seve, Levantes Dance Theatre, Poppy Plowman, and Matt Pang & Owen Reynolds.
- ·Circus artists and companies based in the UK or the EU. The fee is set differently for each, so the call is genuinely open to both.
- ·You need a finished 60-minute indoor or outdoor circus performance, available to tour between June 2027 and May 2028.
- ·You need a full film of the show, ready to link at the point of application. YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive are all fine.
- ·You have to be willing to adapt the work to non-theatre contexts and to reach audiences who do not usually see circus.
- ·Take Art says it wants a menu representative of the diverse communities of the UK, naming in particular the Global Majority and Deaf and Disabled identifying people, and there is a place on the form to say if that applies to your company.
- ·Applying in BSL, audio or video instead of writing is available on request.
