MONTREALPROJECT GRANTS

Project grants for Montreal arts organisations and artist collectives, with almost half of applications funded last round

Conseil des arts de Montréal
DEADLINE11 NOVEMBER 2026, 17 H
WORTHUp to 75% of the project cost; last round averaged about $9,400 for organisations and $8,400 for collectives

If you're part of a Montreal company or an artist collective with a project in the works, this grant is for you. It comes from the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM), the city's arts council.

The next deadline is Wednesday 11 November 2026. For organisations, it closes at 17:00.

WHAT IT IS

There are two strands with the same deadline. One is for non-profit organisations and artists' cooperatives. The other is for collectives of at least two professional artists that aren't incorporated.

To give you an idea of the money: in the round decided on 19 May 2026, organisations got 41 grants out of 93 eligible applications, about $9,400 each on average. Collectives got 46 out of 97, about $8,400 each.

Concretely, the CAM pays at most 75% of the project, in one payment, so the rest has to come from elsewhere. The project can start before you apply, but it can't end before 22 February 2027: the decision takes 14 to 16 weeks.

WHO CAN APPLY
  • ·Organisations: a non-profit or an artists' cooperative that doesn't pay out dividends, with its head office on the island of Montreal. Its board needs a majority of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Organisations already funded for their operations by the CAM can't apply.
  • ·Collectives: at least two professional artists, not incorporated. The person applying must be a member, live on the island of Montreal and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Two thirds of the members must be citizens or permanent residents, and more than half must live on the island.
  • ·Organisations can file one project application per financial year. Individual artists can't apply to these two strands.
  • ·Projects to take part in a showcase or a prospecting trip are excluded, and so is buying specialised equipment. Organisations devoted to teaching can't apply.
  • ·Applications are in French. English is allowed for Indigenous applicants and, for collectives, for people eligible for English-language schooling or who immigrated less than six months ago.
