NEMO reopens with DKK 75,000 for early-career artists building work across the Nordics, the UK and Ireland.

The Northern European Mobility Opportunity, run through Nordisk Kulturfond, is open again. It awards a maximum of DKK 75,000 per successful application, and it closes at 23:59 CEST on 18 September 2026.

Eligibility is by residency, and the list is specific: Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Åland Islands, the Republic of Ireland, and England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The structure is the part worth understanding before you start writing. An artist resident in a Nordic country can only apply to work with a partner based in the UK or Ireland, and an artist in the UK or Ireland can only apply to work with a Nordic partner. The grant exists to move work across that particular line, not to fund a project at home.

It is aimed at emerging practitioners, which the fund defines as being in the early stages of a professional artistic career: developing an artistic voice, building a consistent body of work, and starting to gain professional recognition.

The money covers artists' fees, for you and for your partners, plus travel and accommodation for developing the partnership. It does not cover capital expenditure such as buying equipment, and it does not cover professional courses.

For a circus artist who already has a collaborator on the other side of the North Sea and no obvious way to pay for the first working trip, this is one of the more direct routes available.
