On Friday 13 November, two circus artists show pieces they are still making, in an evening in Paris built around women as the authors of circus work. It's free. It runs from 19h to 21h at L'Espace Périphérique in the 19th arrondissement, and you book by emailing reservation@circusnext.eu.

circusnext, a European label for contemporary circus, runs the evening with L'Espace Périphérique, part of La Villette. It's their event for La Nuit du Cirque.

La Nuit du Cirque is organised by the circus network Territoires de Cirque, with support from France's Ministry of Culture. This year it lists more than 250 events across 18 countries and territories, from Taiwan to Montréal.

Each piece is a solo of 30 to 40 minutes, shown as a work in progress.

Aurora Dini's Sola mixes aerial hoop, contortion and text. Dini is the daughter of an anaesthetist, and the piece puts the artist's gestures on stage next to a surgeon's in the operating theatre. Sola is one of circusnext's 2026 finalists, backed by Cirko in Helsinki, Sarabanda in Genoa and the Académie Fratellini.

Marina Cherry's F.M.R. is acrodance with sound and light, about screens, digital feeds and optimisation systems pulling us away from what we actually feel. Cherry is the author here, and Valentin Thalmayr performs it. Its coproducers include PERPLX in Kortrijk and the Kallo Collective in Helsinki, with support from Kulturbryggan, a Swedish arts council.

Concretely, if you're in Paris that night, it's open from age 8, with a Thai food truck and an information stand run by Clown sans frontières. If you programme work, it's an early look at two pieces circusnext is already backing.
